Domestic Certification Standards
China implements 3C (China Compulsory Certification), a mandatory certification for the domestic market. Based on GB 9656, "Automotive Safety Glass," testing covers thickness, visible light transmittance, secondary image deviation, optical distortion, color recognition, abrasion resistance, heat resistance, radiation resistance, moisture resistance, human head impact, penetration resistance, impact resistance, fragmentation, temperature fluctuation resistance, combustion resistance, and chemical resistance. Only products that pass 3C certification are allowed to be sold in the domestic market. The 3C logo features laser anti-counterfeiting features, and each model has a unique, non-duplicate serial number.
Major international certification standards
- EU E/e-MARK certification: Focuses on road safety, environmental protection, and public health, and is tested in accordance with UNECE Regulation No. 43. Test items include fragmentation, mechanical strength, human head model impact, friction, heat resistance, radiation resistance, moisture resistance, visible light transmittance, optical distortion, secondary image deviation, temperature change resistance, flame resistance, chemical resistance, flexibility, 227g ball, 2260g ball, weather resistance, and cross-cut. Certified products can be sold in the EU and some countries that accept this regulation.
- US DOT certification: Led by the US Department of Transportation, this certification complies with standards such as 49 CFR Part 571 FMVSS No. 205. Key testing items include impact resistance, heat resistance, and UV resistance. Products that pass the certification and bear the DOT mark demonstrate compliance with US FMVSS standards.
- Other certifications, such as Australia's ADR certification, also have their own testing standards and requirements.
